TREKKING IN UMBRIA
WHAT: A brief walking trip through a
stunning landscape with so much to discover and enjoy, including forests,
fields and water birds. We explore an area on the border between Umbria and Le
Marche, the Regional Park of Colfiorito, which is a treasure trove of history,
nature and biodiversity. GO TO THE MAP

WHERE:
Day 1: Nature,
Water and Archaeology.
2.00 pm. All participants meet for a familiarization
session and departure. We start with a
circuit of the Colfiorito high plains which offers wonderful views of this and
the other surrounding mountain plains. During the walk you can see ancient
fortresses, marshland birds and amazing views.
The conclusion of the walk takes us to the Colfiorito
Archaeological Museum which houses many
remains from the 9th century A.C.

Day 2: The Enchanting Scurosa Valley.
On the Le Marche side of Mount Pennino, with its
imposing height of 1570 mts, we trek
along its foothills, immersed in the surrounding beauty. We are in a solitary,
unspoiled landscape of beech forests and mountain streams, with the only signs of humans being the remains of charcoal pits.

Day 3: Around and through the Marshlands.
The day begins with a visit to the headquarters of the
Colfiorito Park and its Natural HistoryMuseum*, after which we begin the loop
trek that takes us along the “Via Lauretana”, an ancient road linked
to the ritual of the sacred remains of the Saint Casa di Maria of Loreto and which connects Assisi with Loreto.
